Our signature summer beer, Oberon Ale, will get a new, temporary look to close out the summer. Inspired by the 2019 Oberon mini-keg design, limited edition Oberon packaging has already started shipping and will land on store shelves and in coolers soon. This refreshed look will be reflected across all Oberon packaging: 16 oz. cans (4-packs), 12 oz. cans (6-packs and 12-packs) and 12 oz. bottles (6-packs and 12-packs). “This is a fun way to celebrate the different parts of the summer season… rest assured, it’s the same beer you’ve grown to know and love,” said Larry Bell, founder and president of Bell’s Brewery. Oberon season is in full swing! What better way to celebrate those long summer days and nights than with a new tradition? Now in its second year, Bright Night is a celebration of our favorite summer beers and we couldn't do it without you.  Bell's Bright Night events will feature Oberon (of course) in addition to other year-round favorites and seasonals like Two Hearted, Lager of the Lakes, Oarsman and Pooltime. We are closely approaching the annual release of summer AKA Oberon, our American Wheat Ale. Here's everything you need to know about celebrating Oberon Day 2019. WHEN IS IT? Oberon is released on Monday, March 25 in all the states we distribute, besides Florida and Arizona, where Oberon is available year round. ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL PARTIES? Yes, we host midnight tappings and launch parties. See a full list of our events near you on our events page (more added almost daily). What about special tours? All of our regular tour spots for this year's Oberon Day tours are all reserved. But because of popular demand, we did add another 8 a.m. option on Oberon Day. It is first come, first serve - join us at the Cafe and be sure to get there early as these spots will fill up fast.  WHERE CAN I GET OBERON? Oberon should be available at most locations that sell or serve our beer. Call ahead before heading out on Oberon Day and check out our Beer Finder. WILL THERE BE OBERON DONUTS AGAIN? Yes, Sweetwaters Donut Mill will be selling Oberon Donuts again this year at their two Kalamazoo locations, Battle Creek and Plainwell location. NEW THIS YEAR: There will also be donut holes with a dipping sauce and pre-order forms. Below are the details: Oberon donuts are available to order through March 31. You can call in your order now and request pick up any day during March 25th at 4am – March 31st @ 10pm. Please place orders at least one hour before pick up for all quantities. Walk-ins welcome. Here are a few things you should keep in mind before ordering: What name to place on the order? Which Sweetwater’s location would you like to use to pick up your donuts? What date and time must it be ready by? How many boxes (dozen in each) would you like? What kind of donuts can you get? Oberon Donuts and Donut Holes: the donuts feature a tie dye orange and teal center, they are covered in teal icing which has a light orange flavor, and they are topped with festive sprinkles, a pretzel and a candied orange slice. The donut holes will be paired with a delicious dipping sauce! The Back Room will open at noon.  What about specialty tappings? In addition to Oberon, the Cafe will have Mango Habanero Oberon! WILL THERE BE ANY FOOD SPECIALS? Food stations will be open throughout the day featuring Oberon chicken salad sandwiches, Oberon brats, orange teriyaki chicken sandwiches, tacos, black bean burgers and more. Breakfast burritos, muffins and scones will be available for those who get there early.  ENTERTAINMENT Live entertainment will begin at noon. Oberon is made up of only four ingredients: water, hops, malt and yeast. But what does each one of those add to the beer? INDY fans! The Oberun 5K is headed south!  The inaugural Oberun 5K INDIANAPOLIS will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Celebrate summer on a Saturday night with a 5K run/walk to a Bell's beer garden in historic Military Park at White River State Park. Pair Oberon with a bottle opener finisher's medal, finisher's pint glass, sweet shirt, food trucks and lawn games in the park, too! Flat, fast and scenic, the 3.1 mile course starts and finishes at Military Park in downtown Indianapolis. Paved trails through White River State Park offer skyline views, live music and BEER for participants 21 and up at the finish party! This event is walker-friendly, but please leave canine friends and jogging strollers at home. A portion of all entry fees will go to Gleaners Food Bank to lead the fight against hunger in Indiana. Consider making an additional donation to Gleaners with your registration. With every $1 donated, Gleaners can feed three people. The Oberun 5K race started in 2017 at Wiard's Orchard in Ypsilanti, Michigan.  Also new this year is the TWO HEARTED TWOSOME! Finish both the Oberun 5K Ypsilanti (July 20, 2018) and the Oberun 5K Indianapolis (August 4, 2018) to earn an additional Two Hearted Twosome finisher medal! We are planning Bright Night events across all of our states and you are invited!  What is a Bright Night? Warmer weather is finally here, and so is a new Bell's Untappd Challenge! There’s something about the new Oberon mini keg design that seems to light up. Here is a preview of our 2018 Oberon mini keg. Oberon returns March 26 and mini kegs will start shipping from the brewery in mid-May.  Note: it doesn't actually light up (except in the video below). This light, sweet chicken salad recipe is great on a salad or sandwich. The mildly fruity and spicy hop characteristics of Oberon add just the right amount of zest to this dish.  5-6 Servings Ingredients  8 chicken breasts, cooked & diced 1 small red onion, small diced 1 rib (stick) of celery  1 cup roughly chopped cashews Juice and zest from 1 orange 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar Splash of Oberon .5 tsp. curry powder 1 tsp. salt .5 tsp. pepper 1.25 cups of mayonnaise In the Kitchen In a large bowl, mix the chicken, onion, celery and cashews together. In another bowl, add the remaining ingredients, whisk together to form the dressing  Dress the chicken and vegetables wth the dressing, ensure that there's equal distribution. Tasting Notes: Whiskey barrel aged beer with spicy, toffee characteristics and a warming finish.  A part of the same family, Oberon and Überon share fruity traits, but little besides that.  Originally brewed in the mid-2000's and then again in 2012, 2017 marks the third release of Überon.   The main reason for barrel-aging this beer is to coax flavors out of the barrels and allow the beer to interact with the whiskey. The end result is a copper colored beer with whiskey characteristics that portray woody, vanilla and candy-like flavors.  See if Überon is available on our Tap Cam, or check out our Events Calendar to see if an event near you will be featuring it.
