How to pair Bell's craft beer with Girl Scout Cookies

Girl Scout cookies are an annual treat around the brewery. Craft beer is ... a little more regular treat. Why not combine the two? Below are some of our ideas. You should also check out this great guide from our friends over at craftbeer.com.  Let us know what your favorite is. Tweet at us: @bellsbrewery THIN MINTS + KALAMAZOO STOUT The Thin Mint and Kalamazoo Stout share a dark chocolatey wafer character, helping to elevate the cooling of mint. CARAMEL DELITES/SAMOAS + PORTER The Samoas have a lot going on: toasted coconut, ooey-gooey caramel and chocolate. It needs a beer to match the intensity. We've opted for the robust, malty Bell's Porter that lends complimentary flavors and a warming character. TREFOILS + LIGHT HEARTED ALE Not that we want to be counting calories, but this freshly debuted lo-cal IPA's citrus notes elevate the simply delicious, buttery Trefoils. TAGALONGS + SONG OF THE OPEN ROAD The cookie's peanut butter will quickly coat your mouth. This malty winter warmer is strong enough to cut through the nut butter and has plenty of dark fruit and brown sugar notes to transform this into a fun play on peanut butter and jelly. LEMONS-UPS + Official These crispy lemon cookies are new for the Girl Scouts this year. Official pairs really well with the zesty taste from this cookie. Check out our events calendar and see if we have a pairing event near you.

2020 Bell's Beerentines are now available - while they last!

2020 handwritten Beerentines are all spoken for and wow, they went fast! You are still able to send the e-card version to your special someone if you would like!  Click here to chose an e-card to send!  Some of your favorites cards have returned, but we also have some new ones to choose from as well. All 15 options have a completely new look and now feature favorites like Oberon, Two Hearted, Hopslam, Sparkleberry and others.  You can choose to send one via snail mail (yes, we will still fill out the card, address the envelope, take care of the postage and mail it for you with a little something extra from us) or you can send an e-version. As in previous years, there is no cost. Both options are completely FREE.  Just choose how you want us to send it (snail mail or digitally), who you want it to go to and which design to use. We'll take care of the rest. Please keep in mind, paper Beerentines are limited. Don't put this off until later, they have sold out very quickly in previous years. Please, one per person. We also have to limit recipients’ locations to the U.S. (for those living outside of the U.S., you can still use the e-version). We will get them in the mail for delivery on or around Valentine’s Day. It will be up to you to choose when your e-card is sent (immediately, on Valentine's Day, before, etc.). PS - You know what pairs perfectly with a Beerentine?

Hopslam 2020: Shipping information, new merchandise and more

January is here and that means it's Hopslam season! Our classic Double IPA will be available at the Eccentric Café and General Store in Kalamazoo beginning Jan. 3 at 10 a.m. More info on our Hopslam Day event, which will include the tapping of Hop Grandslam, a double dry hopped version of Hopslam.  As each batch is ready and packaged, it makes its way out in waves to help ensure it’s getting to all of you as fresh as possible. It will make its way everywhere we distribute beer throughout January in 12 oz cans and on draft. Remember this beer is limited, so grab it while you can. Our best advice to find Hopslam near you is to reach out to your local retailer, bar and/or restaurant after it has started shipping. They will have the most up-to-date information about their specific deliveries and/or availability. Please also keep in mind that it may take some time before that info is available. Be patient and keep an eye on retailer’s social media channels for additional details. Searching Untappd for nearby check-ins is also a good resource. Want to show your love of Hopslam with more than just the beer in your hand? We have a bunch of new Hopslam gear on our online store. Check back here next week or keep an eye on our social media for a special Hopslam announcement. Mini kegs Mini kegs are filled and shipping! Our 5L cans will be shipping to Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Nevada, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. If you search our Beer Finder, also keep in mind that the results show which beers have been delivered by our distributors, but do not reflect real-time inventory (what's on shelves) or which formats are available (can, keg, bottle, etc.). We always suggest using these results to call ahead and see if these locations may be carrying or expect to carry our mini kegs. Remember to drink your mini kegs fresh and within 24 to 48 hours of opening. Here's a video on how to open your mini keg. Recipe: Bell's Christmas Ale Gingerbread Cookies

Here's another great way to use Bell's Christmas Ale for a sweet treat! (If you haven't already, be sure to check out this Christmas Ale Cherry Chocolate Bread recipe.) Yields about 3 dozen cookies. Ingredients 3/4 cup butter (melted and cooled) 3/4 cup and 1 TBS brown sugar 1 cup molasses 1/2 cup Christmas Ale 1 tsp salt 2 tsp cinnamon 2 tsp ground ginger 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg 1 egg 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 3 3/4 cup all-purpose flour In the kitchen Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare a few sheet trays with parchment paper. Mix together melted butter, brown sugar, molasses, Christmas Ale, salt, spices, and egg. Whisk baking powder and baking soda with the flour and mix into Christmas Ale mixture. Divide the dough in half, wrap each in plastic wrap, and chill for 1 hour in the fridge. Once the dough is chilled, roll the dough out on a floured work surface to ¼ inch thickness. Cut out desired shapes and bake for 8-12 minutes, or until the edges have browned and the cookies are firm. Cool completely and decorate with icing, candy, or form into your very own ginger bread brewhouse! Enjoy with a pint of Christmas Ale! Download a PDF of the recipe.
